You need to set your goals on a number of levels:
– First you need to create the “big picture” of what you want to do with your body (or over, say, the next 10 years) and identify the long term goals that you want to achieve.
– Then you should break this down into smaller and smaller targets that you must achieve and hit to reach your fitness goals.
– Finally and maybe most importantly, once you get your plan together you need to start working on it to achieve these goals ASAP.
This is why I start the process of setting goals by looking at the long term goals. Then, I work down to the things that I can do in the next five years, then next year, next month, next week, and today to start moving towards them. I must see the big picture to create a daily focus.
