Pyramid training is basically performing one or more exercise for a particular rep scheme, then dropping your reps each round until you work your way down to a lower number. It is intended to fatigue the muscle. Pyramid training can be employed as an upward or downward sequence in weight or reps.
Reverse pyramid training is basically an upside down pyramid. A reverse pyramid is an effective way to get more out of your workouts. Like the Pyramid training you drop down in reps each round (set) but when you hit the bottom you work back up and mostly try to repeat the same reps and weights on the way up. After years of studying, a lot of training, and working with thousands of people, I’ve learned a very simple lesson: Building muscle and strength just isn’t that hard!
